Tbilisi: The Chairman of the European Integration Committee of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, attended the conference on “The Role of National Parliaments in promoting security and Stability through the green economy, connectivity and sustainable development”, which is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan from May 22-24, 2023.Â
 Maka Botchorishvili highlighted that the creation of effective supply chains and promotion of transport unions across the Eurasian continent is of strategic importance for Georgia.”
 During her speech, she spoke about the role of “Middle Hall” and Georgia in developing connectivity between Europe and Asia and highlighted security challenges in Europe created by Russia’s failed full-scale military aggression, which directly impacts global economies by creating disruptions in energy resources and food markets.
 “Along with the development of international transport communications, the development of regional transit routes is an important priority for us to strengthen relations in and outside the region.”
 The importance of Georgia’s transit role and logistics hub is added to its access to the Black Sea. Creating effective supply chains and promoting transport unions across the Eurasian continent is of strategic importance for Georgia”, – said Maka Bochorishvili.
During her speech, she also spoke about the Black Sea submarine cable project.
“This project will promote energy security in Europe and the Caucasus region and, at the same time, the development of renewable energy sources, including hydro, solar and wind energy,” said Maka Botchorishvili.
As she noted, Georgia attaches special importance to European integration and proximity to European standards in different spheres.
 “The expansion of the EU Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T) with the Eastern Partnership countries, including Georgia, confirms the EU’s interest in developing transport communications with our region and gives us an additional opportunity to develop connecting projects.” – stated Maka Botchorishvili.
At the Republic of Azerbaijan Milli Mejlis, Sauker Sahiba Gafarova, President of the Euto Parliamentary Assembly Margaret Sederfelt, President of Montenegro Daniela Jurovich, Secretary General of the Euto Assembly Roberto Montella and other representatives of the Euto Parliamentary Assembly attended the conference.
Meanwhile, from the Georgian side, Nino Tsilosani, Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues from the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kadagishvili and Member of Parliament Ramaz Nikolaishvili, are participating in the conference.Â
