The National Tourism Administration of Georgia held a training session for 250 private sector representatives on the theme of “inclusive tours and accessible services for people with disabilities”.

The National Tourism Administration of Georgia held a training session for 250 private sector representatives on the theme of “inclusive tours and accessible services for people with disabilities”. The session was held in various cities of Georgia including Tbilisi, Gori, Kaspi, Telavi, Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Zugdidi, Ambrolauri, Oni, and Akhaltsikhe.

 

On this occasion the International consultant Maria de Lordes Arreola addressed the participants from the USA and shared her experience with them. At the same time after the training, all the participants were given a certificate from the National Tourism Administration.

During his address Nanuka Chartolani an Center for Inclusive Tourism expert stated,”Today’s training which was held with the support of the National Administration of Tourism of Georgia is very important for our country. This will help the country for the development of inclusive tourism and the industry as a whole against the background that we have the status of a candidate of Europan Union we have advanced a lot and are close to the European Union”.

Similarly tour manager Keti Shubitidze while expressing thoughts added “At the training we learned what the requirements of inclusive tourism are to have a general idea of ​​the specifics which is very important to create products that will help us host disabled people. I have already received a lot of interesting information during the training which will help us form offers and products”.

As per the provided information the training course will include the following topics:
Accessible walking routes
Accessible campsites
Integrating sign language into tours
Development of inclusive adventure tours
Developing accessible cultural tours
Digital accessibility for museums and cultural heritage sites

Moreover the Development of service quality and equalisation with the international standard is one of the main tasks of “Tourism Strategy 2025” for the promotion of Georgian tourism at a large scale. In order to promote the tourism industry the National Tourism Administration conducts a number of short-term training courses as well. These training courses are going to be held throughout the country in tourist places throughout the year. The main and specific purpose of these training sessions is to deepen the knowledge and improve the skills of the employees in the industry.
