Georgia: Rustavi Municipality gets New Buses

The Rustavi Municipality has purchased New Buses After the direction of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. The Mayor of Rustavi Municipality attended the handing over ceremony of New Buses to the Local administration.

Nino Latsabidze said on the occasion that ” it is important for the whole country to improve municipal transport. With the full and active support of the Prime Minister, Rustavi Municipality has purchased a new buses of euro-5 standard. This was our promise, especially with students. We will do our best and will also continue to buy transport to improve both intercity and domestic transport in the future for all. ”

Meanwhile, Georgian Government Administration Regional Relations Department officer Leri Barnabishvili in Rustavi also attended the event of handing over new passenger buses for the regions.

These buses will be useful for the people of Lower Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.
It is specifically to be mentioned that 51 buses were distributed in all three regions of Rustavi Municipality.

At the event, Rustavi Mayor Nino Latsabidze, Rustavi Majoritarian MP Irakli Shatakishvili, State Commissioner of Lower Kartli Giorgi Dokhturishvili, Mayor of Mtskheti Dimitri Zurabishvili, Commissioner of State Mtskheta-Mtianeti David Nozadze, State Commissioner of Samtskhe-Javakheti Besik Amiranashvili, Mayor Otar Arbolishvili, Mayors of Lower Kartla Municipalities, Rustavi City Council Fraction, Georgia Members of “Uli Dream” and other officials were present.

As per the initial estimates under the project a total of 154 units of 8-meter buses will be purchased for all 38 municipalities.
The new public transport will provide comfortable movement for passengers on domestic and intercity routes. Equipped with modern standards, the buses have 47 passenger capacity and are also accessible to people with disabilities.

It is worth mentioning that out of 51 new buses introduced to Georgia, 20 will serve Rustavi residents. 31 buses of the Euro 5 standard “Isuzu” firm have been distributed in Lower Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.

With the purchase of new comfortable, EURO 5 standard buses, the population living in the region’s problem of internal transport that has existed for years will be solved. At the same time, this will also create new job opportunities in the transport sector for the local residents.

As far as the cost of the project is concerned, up to 53 million GEL has been allocated from the budget for the purchase of new buses.

The winning company of tender, “GT Group,” has already brought 51 units of buses to Georgia. The remaining 103 units of buses and will arrive in Georgia by the end of this year and the beginning of 2024

In addition to passenger buses by the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, 90 garbage trucks of the “Iveko” company with ten and sixteen cubic meters capacity have already been purchased which will be sent to 49 municipalities of the country.

More than 33 million GEL has been allocated from the budget of central and municipalities for the purchase of special equipment so far as per the information available in the public domain.
