The Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia held a meeting with Boban Ilich. Boban Ilich is the secretary general of the South-East European Rurual Deveolpmet Regional Group(SSE RRD).
During this significant meeting between both sides the Georgian minister spoke about the importance of joining the South-East European Rural Development Regional Group with the status of Georgia as an observer. He also thanked the group’s general secretary for the mentioned initiative in this direction.
Otar Shamugia said,”For Georgia as a country with EU candidate status, it is especially important and responsible to join the South-East European Rural Development Regional Group as an observer. Moreover, membership in the European Union is the unanimous choice of the Georgian people, and the country is also very hopeful in this direction”.
“We’ve made significant progress on the road to Eurointegration in the past and are still doing our best Still challenges remain where sharing the experience and supporting partner countries is particularly important” Minister added.
“As members of the Group I believe we will be able to share best practices and experiences in environment and agriculture which will help us fulfil the Association’s contractual obligations in a timely and effective manner. The issue is extremely important and I will be personally involved in this process,” the Minister added.
On the other hand Boban Ilich secretary general of the South-East European Rural Development Regional Group(SWG) added, “Congratulations. You have joined a group of friends. Our aim is to promote sustainable agricultural development in the country through close communication and sharing of best practices. I am expecting fruitful cooperation in this direction in the future as well beteen us and Georgia”.
The South-East European Regional Group for Rural Development is an international intergovernmental organisation that has been promoting the development of sustainable rural and agricultural principles through constant cooperation with stakeholders since 2005.
It should also be added that Deputy Minister Tengiz Nasaridze and representatives of relevant services of the Ministry of Georgia also attended the meeting held at the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
