Otar Shamugia Inspects energy-efficient ovens in Dusheti

Dusheti: With the active support of the state a new energy-efficient oven enterprise has been launched in Dusheti. Minister of Agriculture and Environment Protection Otar Shamugia visited where these ovens have been installed.

During the visit of Minister Otar Shamugia the Minister of Environment and Agriculture Otar Shamugia, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Georgia Anna Chernishova and the trustee of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti David Nozadze were also present.


As per the available information the company namely “Esco-S” has invested 2 million GEL for the establishment of energy-efficient ovens here. At the same time the amount of concessionary agrocredit is 1.5 million GEL and another amount that was received was 500,000 GEL under the co-financing program of recycling and storage enterprises.

Notably the company as a manufacturer has been involved in the co-financing program for energy-efficient ovens for many years as well.

Otar Shamugia stated on this occasion “It is important for us to promote the implementation of energy-efficient technologies in the country to reduce pressure on the environment. The new enterprise was launched with government support and part of the company’s funding will be fully mobilized by the state”.

He further stated that “There must be also an educational component especially with the support of the Ministry of Education for interested professionals who will get specialized training. we have a project to help residents and interested parties to buy energy-efficient ovens and around 200 families have already benefited”.

Anna Chernishova the Deputy Permanent Representative of UNDP in Georgia added that “Biomass made from nuts and walnut shells is used to heat energy-efficient ovens which helps to reduce emissions in the environment and also encourge the rational use of forest resources. However with the support of UNDP residents have already been given 40 energy-efficient ovens ”.

According to Zaal Kheladze the founder of the company “Esco-S” and the Green Engineering Center 25 people are employed in the new enterprise opened with the support of the state. The company plans to manufacture 33 thousand ovens within a 5-year project to cover the other areas of Georgia.



It should be noted that the Rural Development Agency has given a grant of more than 600000 GEL to support energy-efficient production. The opening event of the new enterprise was attended by the Director of the Agency for Rural Development along with members of local authorities.
