The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia has extended its congratulations on Europe Day. The “Europe Day” is celebrated every year on 9 May.
The service took to their social media and stated in a Facebook post “Happy Europe Day! On the path of Eurointegration, the Personal Data Protection Service, as a co-worker of the values and principles of the European Supervisory Body, continues to build a personal data protection culture in society, protect the rights of data entities, and contribute to the development of effective personal data protection mechanisms in the modern era.”
It further stated that “In the process of European integration, the harmonization of national legislation on personal data protection with the Basic Data Protection Regulation of the European Union is one of the most important achievements of our country. Moreover, the protection of personal data, the confirmation of the most important constitutional right to keep safe the privacy of human life in society, the fulfillment of the international obligations that Georgia has decided to follow, and the establishment of internationally recognized standards and best practices on the priority list of the agency as well.”
It is to be specifically mentioned that the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia is an active member of the International Data Protection Partnership and continues to deepen its cooperation with the EU institutions. Some of the prominent institutions included the European Data Protection Council (EDPC), the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), as well as the European Data Protection Supervision Bodies.”
Notabay the election of the European Union is also due this month as well. The election has become very crucial due to the regional and international conflict. The major incident that will affect the election this year is the Russia-Ukarine war.
Similarly, the Hamas-Israel conflict will also have a huge influence on the results of the election. The Republic of Georgia last year gained the status of the candidate country of Georgia. Moreover, the country is hopeful to get the full-fledged membership of the Union shortly.
