Tbilisi: To make serious efforts for environmental protection, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has prepared the NDC (National Determined Contribution) plan 3.0, which was created under the framework of the Paris Agreement.

The Georgian Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection has been implementing many measures to prevent the harmful effects of climate change and other threats to the environment.

It is worth noting that the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) is the main document of the country’s climate change policy, which the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, through consultations with other stakeholders, prepares at the third national level meeting.

At the same time each country will develop and define a target indicator to contribute to achieving the common goals of the Paris Agreement. Moreover under this document which was created with the wide involvement of interested parties, Georgia plans to set realistic and fair goals for the year 2035 both in the direction of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

It should also be noted that consultation meetings were held with more than 100 representatives of various public and private sectors, as well as official of the non-governmental, international, and research organizations in the ten areas.

The ten areas for which discussion was held included climate change its impact on health and education, energy generation and supply, energy consumption in buildings, industry, agriculture, transport, waste management  and forestry. An initial draft is being prepared for written commitments as well.

The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia in cooperation with the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), with the support of the “Climate Promise” initiative of the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Notably climate change and global warming have become the biggest threats to all countries in the world. In cooperation with many regional agencies and global partners, the Georgian government is also implementing policies in this direction to reduce the loss to the environment at every stage.
