Georgia: The Employees of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture have revealed 414 facts of illegal hunting within 1 month after the beginning of the hunting season.
The Environmental Supervision Department shared the details about this information on its official Facebook page on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
According to the details shared by the Environment Department of Georgia, it should be noted that most of the illegal hunting – 147 cases were recorded in Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti. 48 violations were reported in Imereti, 44 in Guria, 40-40 in Adjara and Lower Kartli, 36 in Shida Kartli, 29 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 18 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 8 in Kakheti, and 2 facts were recorded in Racha-Lechkhumi-Lower Svaneti.
Violation of the law has been revealed in the capital as well – from August 23 to September 23, 2025, 2 facts of illegal hunting in Tbilisi have been revealed.
363 of the revealed offenses are facts of hunting with prohibited weapons or methods. In 26 cases, offenders hunted on the territory of the municipality, in 20 cases, they didn’t pay the bill to remove flying birds from their environment, and in 5 cases, it was a violation of hunting rules.
It was identified by illegal means – with a handmade sound device (e., “Manok” ), hunting facts too. 358 “Manok” has been removed in 1 month from the beginning of the season. The most – 142 “Manoks” were stolen by employees of the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti Regional Administration.
To prevent, detect, and disclose the facts of illegal hunting, the department’s employees carry out 24-hour enhanced control throughout Georgia during the hunting season (until March 1st of the next year). The Department urges the citizens, in case of violation of the law, to call the Ministry’s hotline – 153 (no index, free call, anonymous) so that the relevant regional authority can react immediately.
Illegal Hunting is a serious problem that threatens the biodiversity and sustainability of the living resources in Georgia. The department encourages the citizens of the country to consider that hunting is prohibited.
