Georgia reviews Kakheti development plans

Kakheti, Georgia: In order to discuss the projects of strategic documents for long-term development of municipalities, a regular working meeting was held in the Kakheti region.

The Sagarejo Municipality City Hall shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on April 28, 2026, Tuesday. The City Hall also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

At the meeting, the leaders of the municipalities presented the projects of long-term development strategies to the Minister of Regional Development of Georgia, Kakhaber Guledan.

The mayors of the municipalities discussed in detail the long-term development vision, main goals, challenges, and priorities of each municipality.

The projects of strategic documents of the municipalities include the region’s specifics – its strategic geographical location, transport-logistic potential, as well as the strong agro-sector and the developing tourism sector, characteristic of Kakheti.

The long-term development strategies of municipalities are focused on ensuring comprehensive and consistent development and include strengthening and diversifying the economy, improving infrastructure, improving the quality of health and social services, promoting education, culture, sport, and tourism, protecting the environment and ecological wellbeing, and improving modern waste management systems, as well as transport and municipal services to increase the quality.

The elaboration of a long-term development strategy in municipalities is carried out by the instruction of Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. The coordination of the process is implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development.

The meeting was attended by State Envoy Platon Kalmakhelidze, Deputy Minister of Regional Development – Levan Zavutashvili, Zurab Iashvili, Deputy State Envoy in Kakheti Givi Metreveli, and Mamuka Burdiashvili, representatives of the Regional Development Ministry and relevant local self-government services.
