Tbilisi: The Beekeepers Union of Georgia has released the schedule for the training session for the country’s Beekeepers. This will be held untill February 1, 2024, under the framework of the “Agriculture and Rural Development European Neighborhood Program. “
The training session will be held for the four target regions of Imereti, Guria, Racha Lechkhum, Lower Svaneti and Kakheti. However the training will be held in two stages. In the first stage theory part will include whereas the second stage will include practical training for the participants.
The following are the topics of training that will be covered during the session:
1. Model beekeeping practice (GBP) will include training on the basics of beekeeping for beginners. Under this topic, new beekeepers will also learn the latest methods and technology relating to beekeeping.
2. Occupational health, safety and environment (HSE) issues in beekeeping. This topic will further cover the issues relating to safety and health while working as a beekeeper farmer. It will also explaines how to follow the hygenic practics for beekeeping.
3. Issues related to the deep and comprehensive free trade agreement (DCFTA) with the European Union. This topic aimed to apprise the beekeepers regarding the free trade agreement and export opportunities under the free trade agreement for the beekeepers of the country.
It is to be added that the Georgian Farmers Association plans to issue small and medium grants in the following mentioned target regions for beekeeping development:
