Tbilisi: The capital city, Tbilisi, is all set to host the first post-pandemic regional digital summit, on September 14th. The digital summit would be promoting digital cooperation as the delegates from Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus states and China would be coming together for the event. Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Guram Guramishvili, announced on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry, the Communications Commission along with the World Bank would be the organisers of the event.
The Georgian Minister stressed upon the importance of hosting this event that would develop and strengthen the interregional digital and telecommunication ties as the summit is expected to end up with some concrete outcomes.
Gurami , regarding the event, said, “The digital summit is of a regional scale, and we have invited representatives of the leading telecom operators and profiled public agencies from a number of countries. We believe that the Tbilisi platform will be a good opportunity to periodically meet and discuss digital topics and prospects for cooperation in the field.”
Additionally, the event would provide an opportunity to bring together the interested parties from the South Caucasus and the neighbouring states together towards the development potential of international digital connection corridors between Europe and Asia. Moreover, discussions regarding opportunities and challenges for developing a better and stronger digital connection in the Southern Caucasus region will be held.
Further, the event would highlight the role of Georgia in supporting the development of digital corridors and encourage the attraction of new investments.
