Tbilisi: The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Georgia has signed an arms agreement with the Polish company. The ministry has signed the mentioned Agreement with the company “MESKO” for the development of a missile defence system.
As Georgia recently has gained the status of the candidate country of the Europen Union, many initiatives are being taken to bring the defence sector up to the level of European Standards. The recent Agreement with the polish company is also a step in this direction as well.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Georgian Minister of Defence Giorgi Khadrava. He led the delegation of Georgia and met with the representative of the Poland company.
It is to be specifically mentioned that during the meeting, the conversation between both sides touched upon the importance of imposing modern-type NATO standards in Georgia, which will help strengthen the country’s defence capability. The sides also discussed plans for cooperation between the defence agency and the Polish company.
MESKO is a renowned manufacturer of defence products. Since its establishment, the company has improved its capabilities in defence production. Many countries across the globe are customers of its modern and latest weapons.
The minister of defence, speaking on the occasion, said that with the advancement of technology, it is important for every country to acquire modern weaponry. He also said that Georgia wants peaceful relations with all the countries, and this Agreement is just to make the defence system of the country more strong.
He also said that the neighbouring countries do not need to worry about this Agreement. This is an agreement that is meant to defend and not offend any country, including neighbouring.
At the later stage of the meeting, the Polish side also said that they are ready to cooperate with the Georgia in future as well. This document was prepared within the framework of the Georgian Defense Forces Development Program.
