Georgia: The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia David Songhulashvili officially visited Turkmenia and met with Turkmenia’s Minister of Agriculture Chariar Chetiev on March 7, 2025, Friday.

It is also noteworthy that David Songhulashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture, is on an official visit to Ashkhabad, the capital of Turkmenistan with a delegation of the government. The delegation is headed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the information provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that David Songulashvili signed an agreement with Turkmenia’s Ministry of Agriculture, which will enable them to increase the export of agro-food products.
Notably, the parties signed an agreement “between the Government of Georgia and the Government of Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of plant protection.
During the meeting, the Minister spoke about the importance of the agreement signed between the two ministries and also noted that such an agreement will contribute to the growth of agro-food exports.
David Songulashvili states that Turkmenia has significant potential, and using it, particularly in the context of the middle corridor, is essential. He discussed the contract, noting that it involves cooperation and experience sharing.
“Bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenia will enable us to further increase the potential of agro-food export, which is very great for this country, and therefore, to further develop the economy,” David Songulashvili noted.
According to him, the agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of plant protection” includes the determination of the general conditions for cooperation in the sphere of phytosanitary control and relocation of products. In addition, according to the document, both countries recognize the importance of protecting their territories from the spread and spread of quarantine damages.
