Tbilisi: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili attended an information meeting about the extended liability of the manufacturer.

At the meeting, issues of strengthening the capacity of organizations with extended manufacturer liabilities were discussed by the officials. The experts briefed the participants about best practices to be implemented in the processes of manufacturing. The parties also held discussions on mechanisms for operations and developing business plans for emerging MGV organizations in the country.

“Strengthening the capacity of the organizations subject to the extended liability of the manufacturer is currently underway within the EU project. Therefore, it becomes very important for the institutions to share best practices on how to develop strategies, audit, marketing and build a flexible system,” Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili said in his speech.

Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Zaza Shavadze, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economics of the Autonomous republic of Adjara Giorgi Suramanidze, Director of Environmental Information and Education Center Tamar Aladashvili, Executive Director of RECC of the Caucasus Regional Environmental Center Sofiko Akhobadze and manufacturer expansion Representatives of ganizations were in attendance at the informational meeting.

It must be noted that the information meeting on the extended obligations of the manufacturer was held within the framework of the EU-funded project “Waste Management and Promotion of the Circular Economy in Georgia” by the Caucasus Regional Environmental Center RECC and the Danish organization COWI and with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.
