Within the framework of the field committee meeting, the Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government, Sozar Subari, and members of the Committee visited the ongoing infrastructure projects in the municipalities of the Guria region.

The members of the Committee visited the Ureki shoreline and the new boulevard, which were completed in May this year. In Ureki, the deputies also got familiarised with the construction works of a public school for 450 students. The project is funded by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, and the construction cost is 7,230,111 GEL.

The committee members visited the works of a kindergarten and a community centre under construction in the village of Supsa. Completion of the construction of the kindergarten is planned for 2023, and the cost of the project is 4.2 million.

The members of the Committee met with the First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ilia Begiashvili. They inspected the rehabilitation works of Lanchkhuti and Chokhatauri main squares within the framework of the “Integrated Pilot Regions Development Program”, with the support of the European Union, visited the Orpira riverbed and the creation of a recreational zone in Chokhatauri.

The work carried out in the municipalities of the region was assessed by the Chairman of the Committee, Sozar Subari, who stressed the importance and purpose of each project.

Within the framework of the field committee, together with the representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and local authorities, we inspected the infrastructure works in Guria municipalities. At the meetings, we talked not only about the projects that are already underway but also mentioned what else needs to be done. Especially interesting and important was the Ureki Sea shore cleaning project, in which the shoreline is cleaned daily with modern German equipment, which is very important for both local and foreign tourists. We also inspected the construction work of the community centre, schools and kindergartens and the process of rehabilitating the squares and recreation areas. It is important that the city centre is being renovated in all three municipalities, where large-scale projects are underway,”- said Sozar Subari.
