The speaker of the Parliament of Georgia has once again slammed the country’s opposition parties. The speaker claimed that public pressure has forced the opposition parties to change their pro-war rhetoric to citizen welfare.
The specific statement of the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili came on Friday. In his statement he stated,” Georgian public’s protest on the domestic opposition’s actions since last two years which pushed the country towards war amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine had a dramatic effect on the opposition parties. The huge public pressure has forced a “change in rhetoric” in the parties of the opposition.
The speaker of the Parliament said, “ Being a puppet regime acting at the behest of foreign political groups or forces opposition parties has damaged the country’s political stability in many ways.
Furthermore the opposition has done many wrong things which also include using non-governmental sector, the media etc. All of their works were aimed at putting pressure on the Government. However they failed every time when they tried to come to power with their propaganda and disinformation.
Furthermore the speaker stated “The opposition understood the people’s intention and they have changed their attitude. This was because people have seen what the opposition has been doing in the last two years to push the country towards war. But now the opposition is not in a position to face public outrage and they have changed their way of working.”
Papuashvili said that demands on the Government to impose sanctions against Russia without any explanation cannot be sustained. There should be another solid reason besides Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to the speaker there is no rational explanation behind the imposition of sanctions. Georgia declared from the beginning that it is committed to not giving anyone the opportunity to circumvent the sanctions.
He further said ,No one is there for the stability of the government if action is taken against Russia in the form of sanction imposition. He slammed the opposition parties for their negative role during the protest in the capital city of Tbilisi.
