Georgia: Shalva Papuashvili, the speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said in a speech to the soldiers at an event dedicated to the Georgian Defense Forces Day, “You’re defending the independence and freedom of the nation gained through the sacrifice of our forefathers. You’re the pillar on which the homeland, the peaceful future of our youth stands.”
He claims that Georgian servicemen are effectively contributing to global peace and security in many regions of the world.
“Congratulations on the Day of the Georgian Defense Forces!
The Georgian army, in support of its international allies, has successfully contributed to international peace and security all over the world.
We are proud that our Defense Forces are well-equipped, trained, and capable of carrying out challenging tasks today. Georgian Defense Forces are NATO-compliant, and NATO will continue to work with Georgia in this regard in the future.
Moreover, he also went on to say, “You have constantly demonstrated that you are honourable members of our society via your deeds and loyalty to the country and the people. You stood where a real patriot and a brave man of the nation should have stood, safeguarding the homeland, the family, the lives of each compatriot, and the aspirations of a brighter future for every one of us, even though the most difficult times in Georgia’s modern history. That is why the Georgian army appreciates the special respect and love of our citizens.
Georgia is developing in a challenging and tense security environment. Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as the instability in our area, pose a serious threat to Georgia, Europe, and the international order. The dire situation in our country’s two historical regions, as well as the continuous occupation of Russia, hybrid assaults, and other modern difficulties, also causes concern.
Furthermore, this supports our belief in the need for a strong Defense Forces. On behalf of the Georgian Parliament, we reaffirm our full support and assistance.
We honour the memories of military troops who passed away in the war for Georgian unity and while doing their duty. Their achievements are priceless in the eyes of Georgia, and their names and acts of courage will live on in our nation’s memory forever.
“Congratulations on the Day of the Georgian Defense Forces,” Papuashvili stated, “and thank you for your dignified and exemplary service.”
