The state security service of Georgia has denied the reports about the security of US diplomats in Georgia. The same report also indicated the issue of diplomats’ security in other countries as well.
The State Security Service has now provided a clear response. The agency said that these reports are totally baseless. There is no threat to the security of the American ambassador in Georgia.
According to the agency representative these media reports are based on an investigation conducted by a foreign journalist. As soon as the agency heard such reports they quickly decided to check the authenticity of the facts. The agency also waited for a considerable time for an official statement from the USA official in this context.
Notably American agencies such as the US Central Intelligence Agency and the US State Department also doubted the credibility of any such security issue for US diplomats. The Georgian security agencies agreed with the response of the US authorities and termed these reports totally fake.
The official added that Georgian authorities are competent enough to ensure the security of foreign diplomats serving in Georgia.
While expressing concern over such baseless media reports that frequently appeared in the media the official said, “It’s sad to see that despite the exhaustive explanation from American partners Georgia still has politically engaged individuals with vested interest and media outlets that have tried to use this issue as usual for speculation and an attempt to discredit state security.”
The official further stated that “we want to reassure all and every member of the public that amid increasing challenges in the region, security in the country is at the maximum level.”
The State Security Service of Georgia also posted on their social media handles and explained to the general public that these reports were just to discredit the country’s security agency. Moreover only people and organizations with vested interests are doing these illogical acts.
