Tbilisi: State Minister Tea Akhvlediani met the monitoring delegation of the Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention on Minority Protection. The meeting was attended by representatives of agencies responsible for the implementation of state policy on civil equality and integration.
The Minister of State introduced the delegation the priorities and tasks of the state policy on civil equality and integration. She reviewed in detail the implementation of the framework convention obligations, provided exhaustive information on compliance with the standards and principles provided by the state’s activities provided by the convention.
The representatives of the Advisory Committee received exhaustive information from state policy enforcement agencies on the efforts and results achieved by the state in each sphere of human rights protection, anti-discrimination, civil equality and integration.
During their visit to Georgia, the delegation also met with NGOs and ethnic groups and representatives of local self-government of densely populated municipalities. Monitoring report and resolution for Georgia will be prepared on the basis of the information received during the meetings.
“The visit of the Council of Europe Advisory Committee to the National Minority Protection Framework Convention is aimed at assessing the country’s implementation of its obligations under the Convention. It now covers the period 2017-2021 and is only administered once within a 5-year monitoring cycle.Â
Accordingly, today’s meeting discussing ethnic minorities with all relevant government agencies involved in implementation of civil equality and integration of state policies for ethnic minorities;Â
