Georgia, Uzbekistan deepen ties in education and youth programs

Georgia: The Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze hosted Bakhtior Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was held within the framework of the first official visit of the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister to Georgia.

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page on July 9, 2025, Wednesday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to enhancing student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research, and scholarship opportunities. They also agreed to support multilingual educational programs and promote cultural understanding between Georgian and Uzbek youth through joint academic initiatives.

According to the information shared by the Georgian education Ministry, it should be noted that Minister Givi Mikanadze expressed his warm gratitude towards Bakhtior Saidov and thanked him for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Minister Mikanadze emphasized the importance of close cooperation between executive authorities in the process of developing bilateral relations.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the relationship between the two countries in education and science and discussed prospects for deepening the partnership.

The conversation was about the Georgian-Uzbek joint initiative – “Rector’s Educational Forum”, which aims to strengthen cooperation between the higher educational institutions of the two countries by sharing the best experience.

At the meeting, the parties also discussed the issue of organizing camps for Georgian and Uzbek students and agreed that this project will further contribute to increasing access to active recreation for young people, unlocking their physical and intellectual potential, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Uzbek Foreign Minister confirmed Givi Mikanadze’s readiness to expand cooperation on all three stages of the Georgian education system.
