Covid-19: Georgia reports 15,712 new cases of Coronavirus, 40 deaths

In Georgia, the health authorities have stated that within the past 24 hours, the country has reported 15,712 new cases of COVID-19, with 21,623 recoveries and 40 deaths.

In Georgia, the health authorities have stated that within the past 24 hours, the country has reported 15,712 new cases of COVID-19, with 21,623 recoveries and 40 deaths.

As per data, the weekly positivity rate of COVID-19 infections stands at 32.85 per cent.

Overall, there are still 190,241 people infected with the novel Coronavirus throughout the country.

According to the data, a total of 46,425 tests were conducted throughout the country in the past 24 hours. Among them, 26,163 were rapid antigen tests, while the remaining 20,262 were PCR tests.

Moreover, since February 26, 2020, Georgia has registered a total of 1,454,065 cases of Coronavirus.

The new 15,712 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Tbilisi – 7,713 cases, Adjara – 919, Imereti – 2,495, Kvemo Kartli – 828, Shida Kartli – 698, Guria – 463, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 1,088, Kakheti – 997, Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 235, Samtskhe-Javakheti – 227, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 49.

So far, since February 09, 2020, Georgia has registered an overall 1,913 cases of Omicron variant throughout the country.

According to the reports, 6,123 Covid infected people are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 182,537 individuals are undergoing treatment at home by isolating themselves and contacting their family doctors.

Besides this, 1,270 individuals are still in a severe condition, out of which 284 are on artificial ventilation.

The proportion of people fully vaccinated in Georgia is quite low as compared to many other countries. As of today, around 33.2% of the population of Georgia is fully vaccinated against the COVID-19, which accounts for 12.3L people and around 28.6L doses have been administered.

In addition, 1,343,219 people in Georgia have been jabbed with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine so far, while 1,233,366 have been fully vaccinated, which makes up 42.9% of the country’s adult population.

However, the health authorities in Georgia have also reduced the self-isolation and quarantine periods to five days for patients employed in some specific government fields.
