Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 1,700 new cases, 28 deaths

In Georgia, the health administration said that the nation has reported 1,700 new cases of COVID-19, with 7,002 recoveries and 28 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the weeks in Georgia stands at 17.49 per cent.

In Georgia, the health administration said that the nation has reported 1,700 new cases of COVID-19, with 7,002 recoveries and 28 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 7 days stands at 17.49 percent.

Overall, there are currently 54,447 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country.

Moreover, as per the figures given by the health administration, a total of 9,572 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 6,738 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 2,834 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,625,372 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,625,372 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,554,533 patients have recovered, while 16,366 people have succumbed to it.

The new 1,700 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 893 cases 
  • Adjara – 61 cases 
  • Imereti – 204 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli – 74 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 85 cases 
  • Guria – 105 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 90 cases 
  • Kakheti – 129 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 26 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 25 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 8 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for about 85% of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Furthermore, there are currently 2,459 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Georgia, while 51,998 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors.

A total of 1,351,828 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,248,790 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.5 per cent of the country’s adult population.

As of today, around 33.6% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L of people. As of now, around 29.1 doses of vaccine has been given.
