Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili meets Armenian President to discuss bilateral cooperation

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, met with the President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturian to discuss the issues of bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Georgia and good neighbourly relations at the meeting held at the Government Administration.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, met with the President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturian to discuss the issues of bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Georgia and good neighbourly relations at the meeting held at the Government Administration.

Security issues in the world and the region were discussed at the meeting. The “Neighborhood Peace Initiative in the South Caucasus” initiated by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was discussed, which envisages the establishment of a dialogue format between the three countries and cooperation in mutually beneficial areas. It was noted that Georgia has always been in favour of peaceful cooperation and coexistence in the South Caucasus and is ready to facilitate regional dialogue. The President of Armenia thanked Irakli Garibashvili for his contribution to the peace dialogue process.

They talked about the development of cooperation between the countries in the field of energy, transport communications and the Black Sea security. Cooperation in the field of trade was discussed. It was noted that in the first quarter of 2022, trade turnover amounted to 170.49 million US dollars, an increase of 12% over the previous year. It was stressed that Armenia and Georgia have even more opportunities to increase trade turnover.



The meeting was held at the Government Administration and was attended by the Minister of High Technology Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Khachaturian, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Paruir Hovhannisyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan, the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Armenia Tatevik.

From the Georgian side, the meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lasha Darsalia, Irakli Kvanchakhadze, ChargĂ© d’Affaires of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia.
