Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs hosts US Ambassador Kelly Degnan at the Academy of Internal Affairs

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States of America and Georgia, the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, visited the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States of America and Georgia, the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, visited the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. 

The guests were hosted by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Butkhuz. An exhibition/presentation of the equipment and infrastructural projects delivered with the partnership and support of the USA was held in the academy.

Kelly Degnan and other representatives of the US Embassy visited a mock courtroom, a cyber lab, a mock border checkpoint, forensic tools, a tactical training room and training equipment.



The US ambassador to Georgia addressed the staff of the Academy of Internal Affairs, where he focused on the importance of tactical training of law enforcement officers and the integration of international practices into the training process.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Giorgi Butkhuz thanked the Ambassador of the United States of America for the contribution and close cooperation made by the United States of America in the development of the Ministry’s capabilities over the years.

At the end of the event, the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, presented the Virtual Shooting Range Equipment (FATS) to the Academy of Internal Affairs.



The Embassy of the United States of America has been cooperating with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for many years in cybercrime, domestic violence, trafficking, tactical training, juvenile crime prevention, traffic safety and other important directions.
