It is a platform that was launched in 2008 as a consequence of the Russia-Georgia war that had sparked the ongoing occupation of the two Georgian regions, along with the international partners.
It had placed the entire responsibility, for the destructive actions being carried out in occupied Regions of Georgia and along the occupation, upon the Russian occupation forces.
The Russia-Georgia war in 2008 had ended with a decree being signed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as sovereign states. Georgian Parliament, on August 28, 2008, had unanimously declared Abkhazia and South Ossetia as Russian-occupied regions.
Therefore, Russian troops have been deployed there to prevent Georgians from taking over the control of the regions as commanded by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
