Tbilisi: Georgia has joined the statement of more than 50 countries at the United Nations in favour of Ukraine against the Russian invasion of the country as the full-scale military operation marked six months on August 24th.

The statement condemns the Russian acts of aggression towards Ukraine. The members called out on Moscow to respect the dignity of Ukraine while keeping up the respect for regulations of the United Nations. The joint statement was presented by the media representatives of Ukraine at the United Nations.

“Today, we once again demand that Russia immediately cease all military actions against Ukraine, stop attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and completely withdraw its forces from the territory of Ukraine, the official statement read.

Russia has condemned the statement calling it to be anti-Russian.

Georgia and Russia haven’t had any formal relations since 2008, owing to the Russo-Georgian war and Russian recognition of the separatist states.

China so far has maintained a silence over their position on the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. It has abstained from voting in favour of either of the countries and asked for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

India, on the other hand, has voted in favour of Ukraine for the very first time since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
