Education Minister congratulates teachers on International Teachers’ Day

Tbilisi; October 5: The National Teacher Award ceremony was held on the occasion of International Teacher’s Day, which was opened by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkel. 

The Minister addressed the public, congratulated all teachers, and contest finalists, said happy professional day and talked about the role of teachers in raising the next generation.

The best teacher of 2022 became Roland Shavadze, the English language teacher of the Mekeidzebi village public school in Khulo municipality, who was awarded 15 000 GEL with an honorary award.

Mikheil Chkhenkel: “I am very honoured to be able to take part in this very important event and congratulate you on International Teacher’s Day, which is celebrated worldwide.”

Glad to be continuing this important tradition and announcing the winner of the National Teacher Award this year for Teacher Appreciation Day.

This project is indeed one of the most outstanding initiatives to promote the teaching profession by appreciating and motivating our teachers.

Fortunately, our country has many teachers who care to instil a love of knowledge in their students and make them decent citizens. I would like to thank the organizers of the National Teacher Awards for allowing the community to meet such teachers and see the invaluable work they do on a daily basis.

The winner of the 2022 National Teacher Award was awarded the Honorary Prize by the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Makharashvili and personally congratulated him on the victory.

This year among the finalists of the National Teacher Award was: Nana Mgaloblishvili, teacher of Georgian language and literature at Chokhatauri Parish School, Teacher of Chemistry at Shavnabada Independent Public Gymnasium, Mikheil Labartk Ava, special teacher of Kutaisi 33rd public school, Sophia Dzigrashvili and teacher of Georgian language and literature and English language at Tsalki municipality village Gumbati public school Ira Dzirkvadze. Each teacher named in the top five was awarded 5000 GEL.

The award ceremony was also attended by the US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, the head of the National Center for Teachers’ Professional Development, Berika Shukakidze, representatives of the event’s sponsor organizations and other guests For ages.

The National Teacher Award was established on May 13, 2017, based on the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Coalition “Education for All – Georgia,” and the National Center for Teachers’ Professional Development Top of the top.
