Tbilisi: Minister of Regional Development and Infrstructure, Irakli Karseladze recently visited the construction sites at the Samtredia-Grigoleti highway. Following the inspection, Karseladze noted:Â
“Construction of sections I and IV of the Samtredia-Grigoleti highway project is at the final stage. Section 4 has virtually completed all the major work, including the cover, where we plan to open traffic by the end of the year. Work is going on at a high pace on the first section, however, the main challenge remains. A bridge under construction on the rion. A large portion of the bridge beams removed and ready for the work ahead.”Â
The contractor, including Highways Department, is trying their best to resolve the challenge in a timely manner and subsequent works also continue with high quality. Overall, it is safe to say that after completing the first leg, from Argveta junction to Lanchkhuti, we will have 86km 4 lane highway. Traffic will be open for 10 km of 4th section. “Works on the remaining sections will continue at a high pace, despite the challenges” – Irakli Karseladze said.
 On the fourth section of Samtredia-Grigoleti, 9.5 km, the construction of 2 bridges, 1 transport junction, an iron concrete underground passage and a water pipe has already been completed. In the near future, the work on the outdoor lighting system will also begin. This section of the road passes through the territory of Lanchkhuti municipality, villages Khazhalia and Akhalsopli north, crosses part of village Supsa and joins the existing road of Samtredia-Lanchkhuti-Grigoleti.
 By the end of this year, road traffic will be opened on this part of the road.The project is supported by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and its value is 113 million GEL.Â
Works are actively continuing on the first, 11.5 km section of Samtredia-Grigoleti, which will pass through the city of Samteredia and 4 villages of Samtrediya and Abasha municipalities (Tolls, Gormaghala, May 1st, Gakshinar), works from the state budget It will be financed by 73 million GEL.
 The Samtredia-Grigoleti highway is a part of the east-west E60 highway, where the 4-lane asphalt-concrete road is under construction
