Georgia: Eliso Bolkvadze meets Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador

Eliso Bolkavadze, the Chairman of the Culture Committee of Georgia, held a meeting with the Saudi Arabia Ambassador, Salman Abdulrahman Al-Sheikh, on the 13th of November, 2023. They discussed many issues, including the bilateral relationship between both countries.

Eliso Bolkavadze, the Chairman of the Culture Committee of Georgia, held a meeting with the Saudi Arabia Ambassador, Salman Abdulrahman Al-Sheikh, on the 13th of November, 2023. They discussed many issues, including the bilateral relationship between both countries.

It is specifically mentioned that Georgia and Saudi Arabia established the bilateral relationship almost thirty years ago. Relations were, in fact, established in the year 1994, and since then, bilateral ties witnessed high growth.

The embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tbilisi, Georgia, was established in 2018. The bilateral relations between both countries are mainly focused on the tourism and economic sectors.

Both the leaders discussed cultural diplomacy and stressed the need to establish Inter-parliamentary cooperation between Georgia and Saudi Arabia. Meeitng also found the mention of various possibilities that can be utilised for holding the cultural activities in 2024 to mark the 30 years of diplomatic relations between  both countries.

Eliso Bolkvade said that both the countries are located at such a location which connects both the countries geopolitically and security-wise. She also highlights the potential of the tourism sector and the opportunities being offered by the tourism sector.

On his part, the ambassador of  Saudi Arabia also Highlighted the fact that the Saudi Kingdom is the largest investor in Georgia from the Gulf countries. He further said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is always keen to establish good ties with all the countries. He also underscored the Investment made by the kingdom in Georgia and other countries of the region.

It is worth mentioning that the government of Georgia decided to allow the citizens of Saudi Arabia to visit Georgia without a visa and stay there for 360 days.

Both the leaders expressed hope that with the initiative from both sides, the relationship between both countries can grow to new heights. The strong relationship will provide many opportunities for citizens of both countries. At the same time, expanded economic ties can provide better business opportunities to the business community of both countries.
