Georgia: NGO women’s information centre held a working meeitng

A well-known non-governmental organisation in Georgia, "Women Information Centre", held a working meeting. This meeting was held with the women members of the NGO under the theme of "women and youth for the implementation of agenda of women, peace and security at the local level".

A well-known non-governmental organisation in Georgia, “Women Information Centre”, held a working meeting. This meeting was held with the women members of the NGO under the theme of “women and youth for the implementation of agenda of women, peace and security at the local level”.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the meeting aims to empower women to tackle local and other issues of importance. The meeting also discussed the different activities and interests of the group to strengthen the functioning of the group.

It is worth mentioning that the non-governmental organisation “Women Information Centre” was initially established in the year 2000. This was established with the cooperation and support of the Georgian committee of the Helsinki Citizens Assembly.

Later on, in the year 2002, the NGO was registered as an independent organisation, and it started working on the issues of Gender equality and the rights of women In Georgia.

The meeting also aimed to identify the priority areas where there is a need to pay high attention. There were also discussions on the problems being faced by the women living in the conflicted areas.

The NGO had done commendable work in the area of women’s rights in the past. Regular meetings are also held on different topics.

Gender bias is the biggest problem faced by women across the globe. NGOs took many initiatives against Gender discrimination.

A few days ago, a meeting was also held by the NGO. In that meeting, the women’s information centre analysed the various activities of the NGO that were held in the year 2022-2023.

The event was also on the agenda the process of implementing gender policies at the local level as per the provisions of the United Council Security Council resolution number 1325.

Women Information Centre also highlighted the issue of Domestic violence. Many women every year are subjected to the, and the Women Information Centre held awareness seminars on this issue as well.
