On Tuesday, November 28th, a regular session of the Adjara Government, Georgia was held. This session was held under the chairmanship of Tornike Rizhvadze. The chairman explained the important issues of Locality before the discussion on the agenda of the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Tornike Rizhvadze underlined the effects of bad weather and storms. He added that all kinds of assistance will be provided in order to complete the cleanup and restore infrastructure in a timely manner in affected areas.
He also stated that an assessment of damage should be carried out, and maximum assistance should be provided to all individuals or entrepreneurs affected by the storm.
Speaking further on the bad weather and storm, he says, A day ago, strong storm and bad weather wreaked significant damage to Batumi and Kobuleti beaches, boulevards.” I would like to invite all agencies and all services to complete the cleanup work in a timely manner and to complete all the liquidation work in a timely fashion so that people can live normal lives again”.
The chairman of the Adjara government spoke about the budget for 2024 and added that the combined budget of the region is close to 1 billion GEL. Moreover, the healthcare budget will be more than 51 million GEL, and as a result, several important social programs will be implemented.
Notably Following the comments of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, we are jointly working on a revised version of the budget for 2024. Soon, the process will be completed.” This will be the first time the budget of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will exceed 700 million GEL, and the combined budget has approached 1 billion GEL.
Chairman also disclosed that A number of important healthcare and social programs are planned within this budget. The health care budget was defined by more than 51 million GEL. Funding is growing both for supporting immigrant families, as well as for new infrastructure construction and rehabilitation in the region.
Tornike Rizhvadze also spoke about the financial assistance of municipalities and noted that the budget has provisions for more than 240 million GEL transfers towards the municipality, which will be spent on vital projects for the population.
“We are working to support six Adjara municipalities in the form of transfers to make them financially sound. Under the project of this budget, more than 240 million GEL transfered to the relevant municipalities of Adajra, which is vital for the population, as well as further development of all the local social and health care programs that our citizens need” said Chairman Tornike Rizhvadze.
It is to be added that Adjara’s budget for 2023 is increased by 8 million GEL for healthcare. The mentioned change was due for a long time to fullfill the needs of the population and increased demand for health care services.
Tornike Rizhvadze also discussed the issue of the orange harvest and noted that this year, farmers will get a subsidy of 30 tetri instead of 15 tetri for non-standard mandarin.
We have decided to double the subsidy of non-standard citrus, and therefore, instead of 15 tetri this year, citrus people will get 30 tetri subsidy on non-standard mandarin.”
