Otar Shamugia meets Norway’s Ambassador to Georgia

Otar Shamugia, Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture, met the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Georgia. They talked about various issues, including water management resources, renewable energy sources, Agriculture development, and the export of agricultural products.

Tbilisi: Otar Shamugia, Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture, met the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Georgia. They talked about various issues, including water management resources, renewable energy sources, Agriculture development, and the export of agricultural products.

On the occasion of this significant meeting, Georgian Minister Otar Shamugia congratulated the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway on starting his work in Georgia and wished him success during his tenure in the Republic of Georgia.

Minister further added that ” Both Georgia and Norway are cooperating with eacch other in a number of areas, including protected areas, waste as well as water resources management in both countries. But there are still number of other areas where we need to deepen cooperation between Georgia and Norway. Georgia is rich in water resources; we have a great potential for aquaculture development, and we have taken many significant steps in this direction. Sharing and supporting Norway’s experience in this matter is very important for our country”.

Otar Shamugia also underlined that Georgia is waiting for an important decision from the European Union -which granted EU candidate status, and on the way to European integration, the country is making important reforms. Otar Shamugia further highlighted Georgia’s laws on water resources management, as well as agricultural carbon emissions, projects supporting farmers and entrepreneurs, and enhanced rates of agro-food production, including wine production and exports.

On the other hand, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Bergliot Hovland, congratulated Georgia on the positive recommendation by the European Commission on EU candidate status. The ambassador also talked about joint projects between the two countries and stressed the importance of deepening future cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Nino Tandilashvili, along with the First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture and representatives of relevant services within the Ministry’s system.

In the end of meeting, Minister Otar Shamugia assured the ambassador of Norway that Georgia is always ready to provide any kind of assistance to him for smooth discharge of His duties as diplomat in Georgia.
