Samtredia municipality hall held the first meeting of the Youth Advisory Council on Saturday. The main objective of the meeting was to highlight the challenges being faced by the youth of the country.
On this historic occasion, the Mayor of the municipality David Bakhtadze, spoke to the gathered young people and discussed the main challenges and future plans of youth.
Davit Bakhtadze specifically stated that “this is the first time a Youth Council was held in Samtredia; I think this will contribute to the development settlement of young people and the realisation of their personal abilities and hidden talent . our priority is to engage, support, and listen to our youth initiatives in this Municipality. This youth initiative should be well studied and implemented. I wish success and productive work to each member of the youth council for participating in this exceptional event”.
It is to be specifically mentioned that in The Youth Council, young people from 14 to 29 age group can be a member. They will perform a significant function for two years based on the principles of publicity, collegiality, inclusion, transparency and equality.
Additionally, the youth council will be entitled to participate in various processes within the municipality limits, such as preparing the draft budget, planning various programs, and making recommendations and valuable suggestions.
Today’s meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Giorgi Meishvili, Head of Culture Service Natalia Manjgaladze and Member of the City Council Irakli Melashvili; Youth Council debates were also presented.
Participants of the event expressed their happiness and stated that this gave them an opportunity to share their thoughts with the officials and representatives of the municipality. They also said that they learned a lot of things after active participation in this first-ever council. They said that these kinds of youth councils are very productive and in the future, more such youth councils should be held.
The youth council which is represented by public school representatives and students of the municipality, received souvenir gifts from the Mayor, introduced themselves and took a group photo.
