As per Beka Odisharia, the chairman of the Diaspora and Caucasus Affairs Committee, the role of the Georgian diaspora in attracting foreign direct investments is very significant for the growth of the Georgian economy. Therefore, an economic forum is being established to attract investment from the diaspora. A gathering of successful Georgians in order to ensure their even greater involvement can not be ignored.

Beka Odisharia, speaking on the occasion further said, “In the committee co-authored by me and international experts study was prepared up to professional scientific level on topics- “Involvement of the Georgian Diaspora for the Development of Georgia, Attracting Sustainable Capital of the Diaspora”. Moreover, this is not a simple parliamentary inquiry but rather a practical strategy for the effective inclusion of the diaspora in the economy, the main basis of which is the Irish model of economy. Mikheil Khidureli mentioned the Irish model. I asked him to speak more broadly about the said model. We also agreed that a forum will be held in the near future in which successful people of the Georgian diaspora from all over the world will be invited. We with the involvement of the vice-prime minister, the minister of foreign affairs and other agencies, continue to work on the Irish model and its implementation in real life”.

Levan Davitashvili, Vice Prime Minister and minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, also addressed the audience during the meeting. He evaluated the work done by the “Make in Georgia” agency in the direction of attracting more investments and talked about the picture and prospects in the country in this regard.

This historic event was attended by members of the Government and Parliament of Georgia, diplomatic corps, international organisations and representatives of the investment and business sector.
