Borjomi Municipality hosts documentary screening “Get Out Your Voice”

The Gender Equality Council of Borjomi Municipality organized a screening of the documentary “Get Out Your Voice” in the open cinema on Saturday, December 9, 2023, as part of the “Orange Week” campaign.

The screening was attended by pupils of public schools, as well as local authorities and civil society representatives.

screening directs the documentary, which features real stories of women who have experienced domestic violence and their struggle to overcome it. The film aims to raise awareness and break the silence on this pervasive human rights violation that affects millions of women and girls around the world.

“Get Out Your Voice” was produced within the framework of the UN Joint Program “Promotion of Gender Equality in Georgia” in cooperation with the National Center of Cinematography of Georgia.

The UN Joint Program supports the implementation of the national action plan on gender equality and the prevention and response to violence against women and girls.

The screening was followed by a discussion with the director and some of the film’s protagonists, who shared their insights and perspectives on the issue of violence against women and girls. The participants also learned about the available services and support mechanisms for violence survivors in the municipality.

The event was part of the “screening ” campaign organized by the Council for Gender Equality every year from November 25 to December 10. It is a global initiative that calls for action to end violence against women and girls in all its forms.

The “Orange Week” campaign includes various activities, such as workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and concerts, to raise awareness and mobilize the community to prevent and combat violence against women and girls.

The campaign also uses orange to symbolize a brighter future, free of violence. The campaign will end on December 10, at 16:00, with a summary event that will showcase the achievements and challenges of the campaign.
