GNFC presents with national stand at 26th Shanghai International Film Festival

Georgia: The Georgian National Film Center (GNFC), supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, was presented for the first time with a stand of Georgia at the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival.

It represents the richest heritage of Georgian cinema and modern Georgian films and will promote Georgia as the most important country for film shooting.

One of the most important in Asia—the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF)—will be held from June 14 to 23, and the film market will be held from June 16 to 18.

For the proper presentation and promotion of Georgian cinema, the Georgian delegation includes directors and producers who will participate in several meetings planned within the film industry, get to know the representatives of different production companies and make plans for joint productions and the development of the country’s film industry. Georgia must become attractive to European and Asian countries in this direction as an exciting space for producing new film projects and field development.

These meetings with foreign colleagues are valuable for strengthening Georgian filmmakers’ international connections and for the success of their current or future projects. This allows the National Cinema Center of Georgia to take an interest in the Asian market, which has been gaining popularity over the past decade, and thus promote the popularization of Georgian cinema.

Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) is the largest film festival in Asia and the longest-running international film festival in China. Established in October 1993, it is the only Chinese festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), which is responsible for organizing international film festivals, including the most important festivals in the world.

Georgia’s representative delegation to the Asian Film Market, led by Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Koba Khubunaia, will hold several important meetings with producers, companies, cinemas, online portals, and international film festivals.

Projects that will attract foreign investments in Georgia will be planned. During the festival, Georgia will be advertised/popularized as an attractive country for film producers.
