Tbilisi: The Georgian minister of Environment and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili met with representatives of the Wheat and Flour Producers Association. He also held meeting with the Bread Manufacturers Union and flour mills.
It is worth to note that the minister, together with the participants of the meeting discussed the details of the current situation in the sector and emphasized that this direction is of particular importance, as it is directly related to the country’s food security.
At the same time both the sides have also discussed the issues of employment in production, market diversification and price regulations at the meeting. The Georgian minister of agriculture and environment also addresses the attendees along with other leaders.
As Davit Songhulashvili noted, supporting the private sector is a priority for the state. All challenges are discussed at meetings with representatives of sectoral associations and producers, and decisions are made based on consensus.
Deputy Minister Kakha Kakabadze and heads of relevant services attended the meeting held at the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture. The representatives of both associations also raised their concerns and shed light of challenges being faced by the wheat and flour industry.
The current challenges of the demand supply gap were also addressed by the people associated with the wheat and flour industry of Georgia. The officials of the association said that this is not the first time demanded, and supply gap created problem rather similar situation also occurred in past as well.
On the other hand, they asked minister to assure all the attendee to take more efforts for overall development of the agriculture sector of country. According to minister his ministry will provide every kind of assistance for people associated with the agriculture sector of the country.
The minister on this occasion calls the termed the agricultures sector backbone of country. He said without agriculture sector the other sector of economy will not survive.
