Tbilisi: The agriculture extension program is being implemented throughout Georgia by rural development agency. The agency has implementing this program through its nine regional offices.
It is worth to note that the agency is working for implementation of innovative technology agriculture sector of country. The agency regularly hosts seminar and conference in cooperation with regional and international agencies.
The agency took to social media handles for sharing this significant information. The official Facebook page have a detailed information about this program in video form.
The official Facebook page stated, “The agricultural extension is being implemented throughout the country through nine regional offices of the Rural Development agency and 45 municipal information and advisory centres.”
It further added that, the main goal of program and its activities is to increase farmers’ knowledge in the agricultural sector and provide advisory services. These advisory services will be provided both in the sectoral direction and in terms of providing information on projects and programs implemented by the Agency.
It is worth noting that one of the main goals of the Gender Strategy of the Rural Development Agency is to ensure the effectiveness of institutional mechanisms for women’s economic empowerment through their participation in agriculture sector.
Notably during 2024, employees of the Agency’s regional offices and municipal centres provided consultations in office, field and remote settings to a more than 10,000 women interested in agricultural activities.
The representative of agency said that women participation should be increased which will ultimately enhance the production of agriculture sector also. They also said that through these centre farmers will be apprised for current challenges to farming sector.
The agency is also working to aware farmers about the negative effects of climate change, global warming and growing temperatures also. According to agriculture experts at this challenging time there is need to adopt climate resilient practices in agriculture sector of country.
The scientists also raised concerns about food security of country. They urged farmers to change agriculture practices by adopting new innovating technology.
