The para-athletes of Georgian army has left for Canada to participates in sports event. These players will participate there in “Invictus Games 2025”. The boarded plane from Tbilisi airport in presence of many senior leaders and officers.
The ministry of defence revealed information about this on social media handle. At the time of their departure from Tbilisi international airport, deputy minister of Défense Gela Geladze and deputy commander of the Défense forces, major general Zaza Chkhaidze were present on airport.
The minister congratulated them for this wonderful opportunity and wished the servicemen a successful competition and a victorious return to their homeland. It is also worth to note that with the support of the ministry of defence, their families travelled to Canada to cheer on and support the military.
Notably this year, Georgia will represent 20 military para-athletes at the Invictus Games. Moreover, these wounded and injured soldiers will compete in sports such as sitting volleyball, para-basketball, rowing on a training machine, biathlon, curling and skiing etc.
The 2025 Strongman Games (Invictus Games) 2025 will be hosted by Canada in the cities of Vancouver and Vieste. A total 550 para-athletes from 25 countries are participating in the international competition.
This year, for the first time in the history of international para-sports competitions, winter and summer tournaments will be held simultaneously. The Strongman Games have been held in various countries since 2014 under the patronage of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex of the United Kingdom.
The team of wounded and injured soldiers of the Georgian Ministry of Défense has been successfully participating in the Strongman Games since 2014 and has received medals of the highest standard at various times.
The minister said, they are hopeful that Georgian players will once again make our country proud. So, we are very hopeful that they will repeat their past record of medal winning once again in these games also. On the other hand, player thanked defence ministry for cooperation. They assured countryman for every doing their best to make country proud once again.
