London: The Georgian Delegation of the Defence and Security Committee met the British Minister of State for the armed forces. James Hippie was the Minister of State for the armed forces in the British government. The Georgian delegation was led by the Irakli Beraya. Delegation is on the official visit to the United Kingdom.
This historic meeting took place in London. Both sides discussed the various security and defence aspects of both countries.
The meeting discussed many important issues, including the issue of the occupied territories of Georgia.
The meeting also saw an important discussion on regional security challenges, ongoing reforms, and the progress of already implemented reforms in Georgia and the region.
Strategies to enhance the defence cooperation between both countries were also discussed at the meeting. Moreover, leaders from both sides brainstormed the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of the countries.
The delegation of Georgia stressed increasing the involvement of the United Kingdom and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) in the region to ensure the defence stability of the region.
The delegation also sought the support of the United Kingdom for the implementation of ten points for the overall development of the defence forces of Georgia.
It is worth mentioning that in recent times, the European Commission has announced granting the candidate status to Georgia. This was seen as the step taken by Georgia towards full-fledged membership in the European Union. The British official congratulated the Georgian Delegation on this achievement and said that Britain is very hopeful for the progress of Georgia under the Umbrella of the European Union.
On the other hand, the British official also stated that the British vowed to continue supporting Georgia in the direction of deepening the strategic and defence partnership between both countries,

The members of the delegation included Irakli Chikovani, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, a member of the Defence Security Committee of Georgia, and Aleksandre Tabatadze, first deputy chairman of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee.
Some other members of the delegation also included Khatia Tsilosani, who is a member of the defence and security committee, and Sofia Katsarava, the Georgian Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
