The Members of the High Council of Adjara – Friedon Putkaradze and Minur Paksadze, together with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic – Zurab Pataradze and other members of the Georgian delegation, met with the representatives of the Georgian Diaspora in the Republic of Turkey.
The Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on July 4, 2026, Saturday. A small note about the meeting was also shared along with its glimpses.
The meeting, held during the visit to the neighboring country, was attended by the President of the Federation of Georgian Associations of Marmara, as well as the chairmen of Georgian societies in Iznik, Inegoli, Orhangazi, Gemlik, Bursa, Balikesir, and Goljuk.
The meeting was about the partnership, friendly and working relations between the two neighboring countries. Attention was given to regional cooperation and the role of the Georgian Diaspora in deepening close cooperation between Georgia and Turkey, as well as in preserving Georgian language, culture, traditions, and identity.
The support of the government of the Republic of Turkey in the implementation of important projects for the two countries was emphasized. Along with the officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, business circles, and Georgian diaspora promote multifaceted cooperation between Georgia and Turkey.
After the meeting, the members of the Georgian delegation visited local landmarks, including the Panoramic Museum and the seven-year-old village in Bursa province, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
Georgian Emergency and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey – Archil Kalandia, Consul General of Georgia in Istanbul – Alexander Jishkariani, Member of Parliament of Georgia – Gia Chkonia, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of Abkhazia and Adjara Autonomous Republics were present.
