In order to improve demographic policy and social conditions of families with many children, a working meeting was held – representatives of the executive and parliamentary government assessed the current situation and discussed the plans.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The Minister of Refugees, Labor, Health, and Social Protection from the Occupied Territories spoke about the government programs that are active within the framework of the demographic policy.
As Mikheil Sarjveladze noted, current programs are aimed at improving the social and economic conditions of families, which is one of the prerequisites for a healthy demographic environment.
The Minister said there is a need for even more consistent and long-term policies that ensure the strengthening of the institution of families, expanding stable support mechanisms, and sustainable growth of population welfare.
As participants noted, today, in the face of a demographic challenge, almost the whole world, especially the developed countries, is facing. The parties discussed the impact of existing global trends and the concrete steps that Georgia should take. Also, practical mechanisms for solving the challenges were discussed.
As a result of the discussion, the main directions that will contribute to the more effective implementation of demographic policy were identified.
The event was organized by the Georgian Parliament’s Health and Social Affairs Committee, the temporary parliamentary commission working on women and children’s issues, and the parliamentary political group “People’s Power”.
