Georgian held a “Georgia Chooses EU” rally before October election

Tbilisi: As the country prepares to hold an election for parliament on October 26, citizens organised a rally to demonstrate their pro-Western intentions.

The rally was organized on Sunday, just six days before the October 26^th elections. Many Georgians came to the streets to raise the importance of Georgia’s integration in the European Union. The country has already been granted the status of a candidate country for memberships.

According to people who were members of this rally, “this rally is a reflection of our commitment to integration into the European Union. Moreover, we will honour our commitment in October to secure our future for the coming generation.”

During this rally people also showed the world that we are committed to casting our votes in favour of a party that will take the initiative for European Integration as well.

This dedicated rally began in five different places across Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi. At the beginning, participants marched in the direction of Freedom Square.

A concert was also organized in which musicians performed, and speeches by the Civils Society Organisation, activists, and the President of Georgia were also displayed. As per the various estimates, around 2 lakh citizens participated actively in this rally.

Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia, was also a member of the group that joined the demonstrators. During his address, the President underlined, “Nothing is more precious than freedom and peace. And we are fighting for security in the country.

During her address to the Participants, the president said, ” This is one of the historic days, and we should honor our commitment to EU Integration.”

The president, while expressing her views  added that her grandson’s date of birth falls on the same day. She expressed hopes for better results in favour of pro-Georgian parties.

While speaking further, she added that this is not an ordinary election but a vote that will decide the future of the country. The president encourages every citizen to come forward and cast a vote.
