Tbilisi: The senior officials of republic of Georgia have expressed concerns about the decision of Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs. The Poland on behalf of COSAC withdraw invitation to Georgia for conference.
The resistance came from chair of the Georgian parliament’s committee on European integration. Levan Makhashvili is current chairman of the Georgian parliament committee on European integration.
It is worth to mention in a very surprising move a parliamentary delegation from Poland has declined the invitation extended to Georgia. The invitation was given to Georgia for participating in the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union. This important conference is going to be held in capital of Poland, Warsaw this month.
As per member of parliament of Georgia, the decision to withdraw invitation to Georgia is a serious setback for Georgia efforts for its integration into European Union. He also wrote a letter to Agnieszka Pomaska and Tomasz Grodski, both member of parliament of Poland.
In this letter to MPs from Poland Georgian Levan Levan Makhashvili shed light on the negative future effects of the decision and urged them to reconsider this decision as soon as possible also.
In the light it was underlined that, “This decision can hinder constructive dialogue, credibility, authority of Georgia and European Union which should not happened at any cost.”
It is also to be noted that Georgia is attending COSAC since 2014, however this sudden decision is seen as setback to Geordan efforts. Georgia is working for the territorial integrity and transparency as well.
He said that COSAC is a one of the best platforms for discussing regional and global issues. This platform also provides all countries a best option to share their bilateral and multilateral issues.
This decision is very disturbing and need immediate attention from all countries also. On the other hand, Georgian official expressed hopes that Poland will reconsider its decision to bring all countries on single platform.
He said Georgian is always committed for rich heritage and economic values.
