Georgia: The citizens of Georgia celebrated Georgian National Flag Day on January 14 with great enthusiasm and joy. Traditionally, flag-raising ceremonies were held in various state bodies of the Nation.
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s Note
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili congratulated the citizens of the country on National Flag Day, highlighting the “symbolism and importance” of the state emblem.
Mikheil Kavelashvili also shared the photographs of the hosted flag on his official Facebook page. Along with the photos, he shared a small note, congratulating the public. He Wrote, ” I congratulate every citizen of our country on the Day of the State Flag of Georgia!”
Kavelashvili described the five-crossed national flag of Georgia as the main national symbol of freedom, independence, unity, and strength. The President also highlighted the flag “embodies not only statehood but also the nation’s consciousness, pride, responsibility, and the struggle for freedom”.
“I wish our country peace, unity, and national strength”, he added.
EU Union’s Statement
The European Union Delegation to Georgia also congratulated the citizens on National Flag Day. In a congratulatory message on its Facebook post, the delegation highlighted Georgia’s “rich history” and the “resolve of its people”.
The delegation noted, “We hope this flag will one day become part of the European family. Let the flag of Georgia always fly proudly!”
Flag-hosting ceremonies in various state bodies
In observance of this important date, flag-raising ceremonies were conducted across various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the Ministry of Defense, and the military bases of the Defense Forces.
To respect the national symbol of the country, military personnel of the Defense Forces solemnly raised Georgian flags against the background of the national anthem.
The Day of the State Flag of Georgia is celebrated on the 14th of January on the day of the adoption of the Georgian Organic Law on the State Flag of Georgia.
