Tbilisi: Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia gave speech at the Georgian Parliament. She raised many issues in her address including poll code violation in October 26 election.
On December 18 while addressing the European Parliament she said that Georgian Dream is misusing its authorities to justify its policies.
Moreover, European Union is also not taking any immediate action against the official of Georgian Dream which is very surprising.President called upon EU’s countries to act swiftly to tackle growing threat to democracy in Georgia from ruling party Georgian Dream.
While spealing about election fraud, she said two major violations reported includes breach of universality and confidentiality.This is reflected through fact that only 34000 people were able to use their voting rights who are living in foreign countries.
She blamed that, the confidentiality rule was also violated privacy of voters by the installing video camera close to voting machines. According to President judicial system also failed to protect rights of citizens.
The post-election event in Georgia also found mention in speech of President. She said, the Georgian Dream is allowing unnecessary interference of Russia government in internal matter of Georgia.
She also blamed that the Russian influence is growing over foreign policy of Georgia. This Russian influence on Georgian foreign policy may affect bilateral relation of Georgia with other European Countries.
She has taken strong exception of decision of Prime Minister Georgia to suspend talk of Georgia’s European integration. She termed this unilateral move of Prime Minster unfortunate which has violated constitution of Georgia.
The speech also includes the President criticism for misinformation being spread by ruling party of Georgia “Georgian Dream”. She said we need to take collective effort to stop this move of Georgian Dream.
She while concluding her speech called upon leadership of European Union to take immediate steps for protection of Georgian democracy.She urged them to take action to stop unilateral and anti-democratic move of ruling party of Georgia.
