Tbilisi: The Public defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani met with Gareth Ward, the ambassador of United Kingdom to Georgia. He was accompanied by first deputy defender Tamar Gvaramadze along with him. They also met , French Ambassador Sheraz Gasri and German Ambassador Ernst Peter Fisher.
The official of Georgan Public defender while taking to social media handles have shared information in this regard. They also shared glimpses of event on social media handles as well.
The official Facebook post of defender office said that “On December 6, Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani and First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze met Great Britain Ambassador to Georgia Gareth Ward, French Ambassador Sheraz Gasri and German Ambassador Ernst Peter Fisher.”
At the same time, it also stated that, “At the meeting, the Public Ombudsman discussed the current events in the country and introduced the ambassadors to the activities of the apparatus.”
They talked about violence and mistreatment by police, the situation of those arrested and injured at the rallies, which the public defender and public defender representatives see constantly in temporary detention centres and clinics.
It is worth to note that during this meeting between both sides, it was noted that the government is closely monitoring the progress of investigations launched by the Special Investigation Service. This will ensure timely action against all those who were involved in the violent classes as well.
The Georgia Public defender also apprised the British ambassador that, The apparatus works in an emergency mode and responds immediately to information received on the hotline about human rights violations. The Public Ombudsman continues to proactively inform society, international organizations and diplomats about current events.
Notably since the Georgian Dream led government of Georgia decided to suspend talks for European Integration whole country is facing rallies against this decision of central government.
The maximum number of protest rallies are being reported from the Capital city, Tbilisi. The protester is encircled the building of national parliament. They allege that government of Georgia is allowing unnecessary influence of Russia on foreign policy of Georgia which may affect its bilateral relation with other European or western countries.
