The trustees of the Georgian Defender office have visited the person who was arrested by law enforcement agencies. The law enforcement agencies claimed to arrest him for attracting the police party.
The social media handles of the public defender office have shared this important information. As per the official Facebook post “On November 25, the trustee of the Georgian Public Defender visited the person arrested for attacking the police on November 24, 2024. On the other hand according to the perosn disproportionate force was used against him during the arrest and he is a victim of alleged inappropriate treatment or excessive force.”
It is worth to note that regarding this fact investigation is being carried out by the special investigation service, which was monitored by the Public Defender’s apparatus.
It is also to be added that the trustee of the Public Defender of Georgia also visited Isako Devidze, who was arrested on November 19, and also declared protest in the temporary detention isolation.
It is noteworthy that the representative of the Public Defender visited Isako Devidze on very first day of arrest. Moreover, based on the information provided by him, the apparatus applied to the special investigation service for a reaction.
The Public Defender’s apparatus continues to study the case and monitor the ongoing investigation on the facts of improper treatment. The trustee during their visit also briefed the media and made it clear that no violation of human rights will be allowed.
They stressed that law enforcement agencies are bound to follow provisions of the Georgian law to ensure protection of human rights of its citizens. Notably the Public Defender himself is very much concerned about the incidents of violation of laws relating to human rights of citizens.
Notably people were demanding the strict action against the culprit officials. Similarly many social media user also raised the concern and demand for strict action.
The Georgian law enforcement agencies including police already faced public criticism for using brutal force against the protestors. The protestors were demanding the repeal of foreign agents’ law.
