Georgia: The school volleyball festival was held with the support of the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth of Georgia on October 1, 2024.
Before the mini-volleyball festival, Georgia’s German specialist, Helmut Martin, visited Georgia for the third time and held a masterclass in the volleyball development program “Live with volleyball.”
The event was attended by Giorgi Arabuli, President of the Handball Federation Vakhtang Meifariani, Vice President of the Handball Federation Levan Salukvadze, Member of the Handball Federation’s Presidium, and Merab Metreveli, Consultant of the National Men’s Team of Georgia and the Ministry of Sports, along with other representatives of the Federation and the Ministry of Sports.
Helmut Martin was already in Zugdidi, Sachkhere, and Akhaltsikhe. He also conducted a seminar for the teachers of villages on the Gori border.
Within the 2021 RINCK memorandum framework, the Georgian Handball Federation was given a general plan, which fully adapted to Georgian reality and developed the program “Live with Handball“.
The program includes three phases, divided into six stages according to age.
Up to 100 school teachers will participate in theoretical and practical seminars. They will be able to obtain an international Category D license and continue to teach volleyball full-time.
Within the framework of school volleyball, 20 seminars have been held, in which 472 teachers from 300 schools have participated. Within the project, 100 teachers were granted international D-category licenses, and 24 of them became mentors.
In addition, classes and complex volleyball tasks are planned for the 2022 academic year. School festivals were held in 10 municipalities of Georgia, in which up to 3000 students from 188 schools participated. Municipal teams were also created, which attended camps and participated in the Georgian Championship.
