Astana: Shalva Papuashvili , The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia is on a significant official visit to Georgia. During this visit, he had a crucial meeting with Erlan Koshanov the Chairman of the Majilis (lower house) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The visit of Shalva Papuashvili is an opportunity for the improvement of relations mutual respect between the Georgian and Kazakh nations.
During his speech Shalva Papuashvili expressed his gratitude to the Kazakh side for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity. At the same time he expressed sorrow over the current disaster in Kazakhstan and assured every possible support in dealing with it.
Parties discussed a number of topics ranging from politics, trade and economy, agriculture, transport, investment, and tourism to culture sectors.
It was also underlined that mutual cooperation is necessary to exploit the Middle Corridor’s transport and transit potential. On the other hand the Kazakh side expressed its willingness to share Georgia’s experience in terms of reforms in various fields.
The chairmen of the legislative bodies further shared information about the parliamentary activities and the main issues on the parliament’s agendas.Subsequently Shalva Papuashvili invited his Kazakh colleague to visit Georgia for which e Kazakh side responded positively.
The visiting Georgian delegation included in it the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili Kakha Kakhishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee Davit Matikashvili.
Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Turkmenistan, First Deputy Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee Irakli Mezurnishvili, head of the friendship group with the Parliament of Uzbekistan, first deputy chairman of the Culture Committee Baia Kvitsian, deputy chairman of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee of the Parliament Anton Obolashvili, member of the Finance and Budget Committee Sozar Subari, member of the Agrarian Affairs Committee were also present.
